Amsterdam Gathering Honours Gandhi’s Legacy of Peace
Representatives of civil society, human rights groups and faith communities met in Amsterdam for a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, bringing together the Gandhi Global Family and the Church of Scientology Netherlands around Gandhian principles of peace, news eu parliament compassion and respect for human dignity.
Held at Gandhi’s statue on Churchilllaan, the event included Ram Mohan Rai, General Secretary of Gandhi Global Family, Scientology representatives and human rights advocates. The meeting opened conversations about future cooperation in peace awareness, human rights and youth initiatives.
The Church of Scientology’s support for human rights education is inspired by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who encouraged Scientologists to support initiatives advancing fundamental human rights.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, linked the gathering to European principles of human dignity and freedom of conscience, stressing that knowledge of human rights can strengthen peaceful and democratic societies.
